How to Attend a Model Open Call

Attending an open call as a new or established model is the first step to be seen by a modeling scout. Here are 3 best tips to stand out.

Open Call Modeling – Tips to Start

If you ask anybody if they would like to be a “rich and successful model or actor” 99% of the people would say, hell yes! The problem is that 99% of people do not want to put any work or effort into perfecting their craft. Sadly many models and actors have no idea what it takes to become successful.

Tip 1: Come Prepared

Attending a meeting with a modeling agent, model management company or platform requires you to do your homework prior to attending. Modeling safety is important, as is know what you are getting yourself in to and if the company is a good fit for what you are seeking.

Tip 2: Act Professional

If you were invited in to meet with a modeling agency or even attend a public open call, the most basic step is acting professional when you arrive. No one will be impressed with the fact that you’re wearing sunglasses or listening to music or talking on the phone. It shows that not only are you not serious, you are not professional. First impressions are very important. If you are an established model or have some projects under your belt, it is best to present that at an audition. Composite cards and Headshots are always required, however for a new model they do not need them just yet. If you have those materials already always attend an open casting with those.

Tip 3: Be Realistic

Almost no one walks in to a meeting with an agent or model scout gushing over how beautiful and fabulous the actor or model is. Many times people are unrealistic in their approach and think that because they want to become a model or actor that an agent is going to do all the work for them. This is simply not the case. If you are not fully prepared to become a model or actor then this business is not for you! Even if you are signed to an agency, you have to be realistic. No one can promise or guarantee jobs. That is ultimately the clients decision. Anyone that promises you any type of success or guarantees is not being honest with you!

If you are ready to take the first step as a model, there are many outlets for you to turn into to become a model or actor. Latitude Talent is a platform that works with models and actors of all backgrounds.

Fit and Fitness model – What is the Difference?

When people think of modeling agencies, the stereotype of slender women’s figures or a fitness build for male models comes to mind. Don’t forget about the many other types of modeling agencies.

Many people aspire to break into the modeling industry but aren’t confident that they have a place there. The most common belief is that this type of industry is only for tall, slender individuals with a specific set of facial features. The truth is, however, that there is a large handful of different types of modeling opportunities that you can pursue. For this reason, there are specialized modeling agencies, especially for beginner models, that help connect modeling talent with relevant opportunities.

Let’s explore some of the most notable agencies that you should keep in mind if you are looking to become a model.

Fit Models

Although the name would suggest differently, this type of modeling agency does not focus on physical fitness. Instead, fit models work behind the scenes within the industry to help determine how certain clothing should fit. For example, a designer or clothing manufacturer could work with a handful of fit models that represent their target demographic. From here, they could fine-tune the proportions of their clothing so that it has an ideal fit for that type of individual. As you can tell, this type of professional is extremely important to the industry as a whole despite not partaking in conventional photo shoots.

What is a Digital Comp Card for Models?

What is a Comp Card? We’ll at one time it was a mandatory expense models had to cover; “update your comp card yearly” agents used to say. Comp cards used to be costly, something like $2.25 per print. By the time your agent was done sending them out, the model or actor would look different and have to get all new ones made up.

Now, in 2020 like most things, comp cards are now digital and are used for models and actors to showcase their headshots and stats in a clear, clean and simple form used to submit to casting agents to land castings call and auditions.

The benefit of digital comp cards is they can be edited in no time, making sure they are accurate and up-to-date can help you land that role or gig.
